Racing For Dummies

As Drosselmeyer crossed the finish line in the Belmont Phil was reminded of John Wooden spending days teaching his teams the proper method to put their socks on and tie their shoelaces. Mott had the right shoes on for training with Drosselmeyer´s tender feet and he was rewarded.

Be prepared and be honest.

Northlands thoroughbred handle for June 5, 2010, Belmont Stakes day plummeted to an abysmal $174,720.

The ennead has oft heard Phil complain about simulcast signals at OTBs being switched before the race card is over. Yet, nothing has been done and the problem has not been resolved. Until some high placed heads roll, accountability will remain an unknown concept and the fans will just get more soured and start looking for other leisure opportunities.

Saturday, the signal for Northlands thoroughbreds was switched to Meadowlands jiggies with about 18 minutes to post. Not much stir at the OTB Phil was at as only 1 person was playing Northlands. The signal was switched back to Northlands about 5 minutes later. Frustrating.

But, then the signal switched back to Meadowlands for a couple of more minutes and then was switched back to Northlands.

How many OTB bettors switched the bets they would have played at Northlands to Belmont, Churchill, Hollywood or Meadowlands jiggies? Plenty and they´re not switching back to Northlands.

More time needs to be spent on the race product at Northlands and less on the Derby girls.

Phil´s arithmetic calculates that Saturday´s handle means that each security guard at Northlands has to watch less than a grand.

Instead of using the Petty Trespass Act to keep Phil off Northlands grounds it should be used on the culprits at Northlands who´ve wounded and are killing live racing.

"Ideally, though, an idiot wouldn´t operate a racetrack. (At this point, you´re probably screaming that many idiots have run racetracks, and you´d be right. Many have, some are, and many will. But you´re overlooking the "ideally.")"

"And so wouldn´t it be wise to put the person with racetrack knowledge in charge of a racetrack?"
