No Surprises Here

Once Chiarelli and the Bruins traded for Nathan Horton it was obvious they knew how the first 2 picks of the NHL 2010 draft would shake out. Boston would not part with sufficient assets to switch places with the Oilers and take Hall and the Oilers couldnīt satisfy Bostonīs requirements to part with the 2nd pick so they could take both Hall and Seguin.

Yet, the hockey media across North America continued to pound the Taylor - Tyler debate. Then draft frenzy trades that never happened and coming July 1st, free agent frenzy in the NHL and NBA.

The NFL, NBA and NHL are out of season right now, but they still garner vastly better coverage than thoroughbred racing does during the high points of its season.

Woodbine seems to be the only track in North America making any inroads.

Edmonton and Boston fans will be comparing the careers of Taylor and Tyler for decades, but in TO they´ll be comparing Seguin and 2011´s pick to Kessel.

Tambellini and Chiarelli kept reminding the media and fans of the difficulty of their task in selecting a player that will star in the future when all youīve got is past performance to base your decision on. Tell me something any horse player doesnīt know.

If they think their job is tough they should attend one of the major thoroughbred auctions where hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on young thoroughbreds based solely on pedigree and looks.
